Romans: Judged According To Our Works?

How can we reconcile the clear statements of Scripture that we judged according to our works, with the equally clear teaching that we are justified by faith apart from works? Paul, in Romans 2, opens up that discussion when he makes it plain that God judges all men according to the works of our life.
