A Life of Grace - (1) Gospel

61 ( 23 | 38 )

This series is about living a life of grace. Grace—as Scripture defines it—is the opposite of earning; grace is unmerited favor. "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God" (Eph. 2:8). To know yourself a sinner saved by grace is truly revolutionary. A grace-filled life is the only way to live in fellowship with God. It is the only way to truly honor God. Only by knowing God's grace can we have peace of conscience. And only grace-filled people are equipped and motivated to love others the way everyone needs to be loved.

The series is arranged in two movements: receiving grace and giving grace. And the connection between these two movements is vital. We can only give grace if we have truly experienced grace. Until we experience grace we will treat others the way we suspect God treats us—according to a rigid standard of performance. We will struggle to appreciate their challenges. We will be quick to judge their failures. We will be unwilling to help carry their load. Tragically, those who claim to treasure the doctrines of grace do not always practice the grace they say is so important. Apart from grace we demand and usurp. By grace receive and share.
