Fear Unbelief

There are many things in this present world that we should not fear missing out on but the ‘eternal Sabbath-rest of God’ is not one of them. This life settling, life refreshing promise of God that still remains open is the only hope for a restless and frustrated humanity and to miss out through unbelief on entering God's rest is to miss out on everything!

The writer of Hebrews picks up this rich theme of participating in the Rest of God from the O.T. and presses it home urgently as our present hope in Christ. Minimizing the daily vigilance necessary to enter and live in joyful expectation of such a wonderful reality would be foolish indeed! There is no hiding of reckless unbelief before the One who holds out such a gracious offer. His powerful, searching word penetrates, cuts open and lays bare the true thoughts of our hearts for our eternal good and blessing or for our eternal loss!
