The Nicodemian Precept
The Nicodemian Precept: "Except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John 3:3)
Many in Christendom today teach that except a man see the kingdom of God, as represented in the gospel message, he cannot be born again. Jesus Christ taught precisely the opposite saying, "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John 3:3)
Many preach that if you will just believe then you will be born again. In so doing they are teaching that the Spirit is the fruit of faith. In stark contrast the bible teaches that faith is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22) In both instances a proper understanding of the Nicodemian precept is essential to a proper understanding of the mechanics of how God imparts eternal life to a man as a monergistic act of sovereign grace.
