The "Nebuchadnezzars" of Society

Contenders for the Glory of God and your life to advance their agenda and authority.

Take a moment and meditate with me on Daniel 1, in light of what we're walking through in Jeremiah, and consider the contenders that fight for the minds of a generation. We'll look at Babylon and the way Nebuchadnezzar worked and I think we'll find how the "Nebuchadnezzars" work today. These Contenders offer the best incentives and make big promises. But don't forget what's coming... they will expect some sort of compromise from you and they will reward you for it. But in the end—it will always be about them. And they know you can't undo what you've already done. So... be cautious, be wise, be discerning and guard your heart...and don't let the "Nebuchadnezzars" of the world woo and win your heart with frivolous and futile promises.

There's been many lives and families shattered, through the years, because some "Nebuchadnezzar" convinced some dad or mom or student or ball player or executive... that life would be better if they'd only take what "they" were offering. Daniel purposed in his heart upfront. And the commitment he made, and the God he purposed it all to, made a distinct and delightful difference in his. And it can make a difference in ours (Daniel 1:8). Daniel was an influencer... that's still touching lives to the glory of a God. Because his influence wasn't about himself... glory!
