Breakfast With Jesus

28
  1. RECOGNIZING JESUS
    (a) “It is the Lord” – the beloved disciple (probably John) recognized Jesus
  • it is vital that you know the risen Lord in your life! - see Phil.3:10
    (b) Peter – “when he...sea” – he tied up his outer garment to help him swim
  • had had led the fishing expedition and now he leads the dash to Jesus!
  1. PUTTING JESUS FIRST
  • recognition of Jesus leads us to direct our life and work towards him
  • only as we recognize and know him will we direct our work “unto” him!
  1. FELLOWSHIP WITH JESUS
    (a) a meal ready for them – a meal together signified sharing and fellowship
  • note Jesus prepared it – the risen Jesus arranges feeding for his people!
  • they are tired after toil, but are now invited by him to rest and take food
    (b) “Come...breakfst” – Jesus is now risen and yet he shares with the disciples. They are taught the need for nourishment ahead of mission! – we too!
  • Gospel “meals” are not for an elite. These disciples were a mixed bunch!
    (c) “they knew it was the Lord” – note “none of the disciples dared ask him”! They were under the influence of a holy wonder - silence is appropriate!
