Justification by Faith Alone and Imputation (Historical Theology Vol. 2, #3)

248

This reading, from Chapter 21 on Justification, of William Cunningham's classic Historical Theology (Volume 2) goes from page 49 to page 70 in this volume. It completes the section from the previous MP3 entitled, "Imputation of Christ's Righteousness," includes the entire section "Justification by Faith Alone," and gets started on the section "Office of Faith in Justifying."

It demonstrates some of the similarities between Arminianism and Roman Catholicism regarding justification, and proves that the biblical position is found in Calvinism -- or what is sometimes called the Reformed Faith or Reformed Theology. Some very powerful points are also made for the original Greek in the New Testament, which excludes both Arminianism and Romanism as being faithful to the Scripture.

These sections on Justification in Historical Theology are extremely timely readings given all the stepped-up modern attacks by Satan (through Romanism, the Federal Vision heretics [Doug Wilson, Steve Schlissel, et al.], etc.) on the biblical (Protestant) doctrine of justification by faith alone.

Both volumes of William Cunningham's Historical Theology are available on SWRB's Puritan Hard at www.PuritanDownloads.com.
