Overcoming Prejudice

In James 2:1-13, the focus is the issue of partiality, personal favoritism, judging people by external appearances and acting on that. That is, "judging a book by its cover". The old saying, don't judge a book by its cover, prejudice, is when you do that. Partiality is when you do that. And that's the concern that James is addressing, that as Christians we have the tendency to be affected by our world and our own sin nature and that we can manifest a spirit of partiality or prejudice.
