Blessed Assurance

Looking at the subject of assurance of salvation from 2 Peter 1.

1 It is important and helpful to look at things we do that provide evidence of salvation in our lives;
So eg Peter lists, virtue, knowledge, temperance .........

2 The result of displaying these things in our lives - we will not be barren and unfruitful ........

3 The eternal conclusion.

An abundant entrance into the kingdom.

Peter is saying that if we are enabled to furnish our lives with these graces then that is evidence of our calling and election and the Lord will then furnish us with an abundant entrance into the kingdom.

We don't do these things to obtain salvation - that is by grace alone - but if these things are in our lives they are evidence of that grace.
