Not Finding It, When "You" Need It

Think with me for a moment? Let's look at two Kings of Israel... King Saul and King David.

King Saul, at times, was a desperate man, but his desperation was for something and NOT SOMEONE. And, as I watched these surfers wait out the unstable waters of the Pacific, something struck me... Water, though it's unstable, and totally manipulated by its environment, is extremely predictable --- it will always find the path of least resistance. Where that path may be is unknown, and it may quickly change, but water is sure to find it. Sometimes it will flow around a big rock, and at other times under it, and depending on it's level, and the force behind it, it could flow right over it. The Bible makes a comparison of those who function and live life in unbelief with water... both are unstable and predictable and potentially dangerous. Because their conditions and environment totally control them (James 1). And the enemy can wait a long time for a strong wind to come and blow you wherever it would like.

I couldn't help but think about King Saul and his daily lifestyle. He rarely ever sought God first... therefore, he rarely heard a fresh word from God. And when inquiring of the Lord is NOT a part of our daily routine, we shouldn't be shocked that we hardly ever hear from Him. And when we eventually get around to seeking Him on our own terms we shouldn't be surprised that He usually don't give us answers for life. And we shouldn't be surprised, either, on how quickly we are tossed and turned to seek inappropriate things, when He doesn't speak, because we are so desperate for answers. This is where the devil will wait us out in our unstable way
