The Prayer of Faith, Hope, and Love: Our Father

The Christian faith contains many triads, but one of the most famous is Paul's grouping of faith, hope, and love. To pray "Our Father in Heaven" is the prayer of faith, hope, and love. It takes faith to call on God as Father; hope to look toward Heaven; and love to say "our" and mean it. To call on God as OUR Father is to admit that He is the Father of other believers too. "Through Him [Christ] we both [Jews and Gentile, Blacks and Whites, Mexicans and Asians] have access by one Spirit to the Father" (Eph. 2:18).
