Take Care Then How You Hear

The parable of the soils (or sower) is not so much about the sower or the different soils, but about hearing. Wherever the Word of the Kingdom of God is proclaimed, there will be a variety of responses in the hearing of that Word. It is in true hearing that we learn about, understand and participate in the kingdom of God. As the King of the kingdom speaks His Word to us, "consider carefully how you listen" and pray that in our hearing we might "hold fast to it with good and honest hearts, and in patient endurance, bear much fruit."
