Pastor Massey discusses the response to the publication of Luther's 95 Theses and the growing opposition against Luther from the Bishop of Rome. Special attention is given to Luther's defense of his views in Heidelberg in April 1518, where he presented his Heidelberg disputation, and Luther's appearance before the papal legate, Cardinal Cajetan, in Augsburg in October 1518. Throughout the lecture, Pastor Massey urges the listener to recognize God's hand of providence in Luther's life; protecting him and providing him with platforms to speak.
