The Dangers of Legalism and Spiritual Bondage

Legalism and spiritual bondage makes people captives as much as any physical disability. This is demonstrated in the account in Luke chapter 13, verses 10 through 17 when Jesus heals the crippled woman. The synagogue ruler was angry with Jesus because he healed on the Sabbath. It is hard to believe that something so beautiful could be so upsetting, but it shows the kind of bondage the synagogue ruler was in: bondage that was worse than the crippled woman's bondage. This is what legalism does.
