The King in His Beauty
Series Psalm series
462
There are some themes of Scripture which seem too glorious to be expounded---some passages which are so majestic that any human comment upon them seems destined to detract from their grandeur. Psalm 45, the prophecy of the king in His beauty, is one such passage. But to paraphrase C.H. Spurgeon, although I can't spread before you all the rich food this psalm contains, yet I can attempt to 'gather a few crumbs that fall from the Master's table.' The psalmist's heart was 'overflowing with a good theme,' as he recited 'his composition concerning the king.' But this is a king like no other, for 'Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.'
