Summary: Run the race God gives you with patience till He calls you home!
• This is a command
• He gives us a handful of encouragements to press us though trials
• He gives us our ultimate source of strength during our darkest days.

Fact 1: Godly saints draw encouragement from the testimonies of God's people: "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses..."

Fact 2: Godly saints learn to remove the entanglements that hinder their race: "Let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us..."

Fact 3: Godly saints learn to persevere in the race that God has chosen for them: "And let us run with patience the race that is set before us..."

Fact 4: Godly saints find Christ's faithfulness to be their highest comfort: Looking unto Jesus...who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Fact 5: Godly saints rest secure in God's saving work: "Author and finisher of our faith..."
