If My People Will Humble Themselves

God says, "If ... My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land." The only hope for our rapidly decaying country is an outpouring of the Holy Spirit and a healing of our land. In this text is a promise that God will heal and forgive IF His people do three things: 1) Humble themselves; 2) Pray and seek His face; 3) Turn from their wicked ways. That is a big IF. We would rather try to fix the problem ourselves than humble ourselves before God, admit we are helpless, and beg Him. There is something in us that hates to rely on God alone. Adam and Eve didn't like being dependent, so they took the fruit in the hopes of being independent. We have been cursed with this proud, independent nature ever since. We want to turn things around through politics, elections, Supreme Court appointments, programs, big government, small government, education, the military and a host of other saviors. We must humble ourselves and pray, or there will be no deliverance.
