Baptizing Them p2

25

In this messafge, Pastor John looks again at baptism from a biblical perspective. In last’s week’s message we learned that Jesus commanded His followers to baptize new believers. Obeying Christ’s command is two-fold – we’re baptized then we baptize other believers. God’s Word offers blissful eternal life to all who believe but not for those who reject the gospel. Christ paid the price for souls to be liberated from bondage. Do you want what He offers? II. Our Lord said He stepped into the water of baptism to fulfill all righteousness." Jesus' cousin John said He baptized for repentance, but the one coming after him would baptize with the Holy Spirit & fire. (Matthew 3:11) Our Lord was sinless, yet He reveals that His obedience to the Father included being baptized. Baptism is a sign of our death to self and death to sin. We are buried in the likeness of His death & raised in the likeness of His resurrection! Our Lord said that His obedience to the Father was so that the world would know His love of the Father. (John 14:31) Our obedience to His commands is evidence of our love of God. Do you hear Him calling you to obey Him? Why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized today. Allow the water to wash over you as it has countless others. Obey the command of Christ!
