The Law Was Added Until the Seed Came

The Mosaic Law was given as an addition to the covenant made with Abraham years after the covenant was originally made. It was specifically given by God to the descendants of Abraham, the nation of Israel. The Law when given, was given, for a set duration of time. That set duration being until the Seed, Jesus Christ, came. The Law having been perfectly fulfilled by Christ had then served its purpose. The purpose being not to provide a way of salvation but to reveal sin and the need for salvation. The Law revealing the perfect righteousness of God was not the means of power to keep the law, but also confirmed Jesus Christ as the one qualified to be Israel’s Messiah.
