One Whom His Mother Comforts

Pastor John's goal with this message is to celebrate & honor moms in a way that glorifies Almighty God. He wants everyone become energized with a deeper respect for mothers and gratitude for life. Almighty God is the giver of life and He has chosen to use women as His vessels for the human lives He creates here. The Bible tells of mothers who were virtuous & mothers who were scandalous. Some women protected their children from harm and others harmed their children. Some wanted children, but couldn’t have them. And others had children but didn’t care for them. Even with those extremes, God chose motherhood as a symbol for His love and care for His people. We hear our Creator say, “As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you."
Think about that: Almighty God, the Creator of all that is, was and ever shall be offers comfort to His people like a mother. Almighty God created mothers and He completely comprehends what it is to be a mother! What is usually not recognized, yet is inherent in the celebration of mothers is that by honoring mothers we are also celebrating life.
It is written in Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you. Each of us has been given life by the grace of Almighty God and the willingness of our mother to participate in the process. I say willingness because of abortion.
There are those who would remove God from the equation by reducing the miracle of birth to a mere consequence of biology. Countless numbers of people hold that view; yet true followers of Jesus Christ understand that only God gives life. And only God is permitted to take it away. True believers know this fact and share it with others.
