Hiding and Revealing

Does God have the right to reveal things to some and hide them from others? Is it fair if he does? The sovereignty of God gives almost all believers a degree of trouble; there is in our nature a desire to be his advisor. Here, Jesus praises His Father for revealing to some and withholding from others. If He did, we should be able to as well.
