Why pray Part 1

INTRO: Why is prayer necessary? Now, read the prayer books, and they will tell you how very important to the Christian life prayer is, and rightly so. This is evidenced by the fact that the devil will fight you on this matter and keep you from it if at all possible. But I ask you, what is so important about prayer? Why should we pray? Why does God tell us to pray? I have numerous books specifically written on prayer and I searched what they said about this question, “Why pray?” Some of them answer this question from the side of results. For example, John R. Rice has a section called, “Why Pray?” And his answers are: (1) Because God insistently commands it in the Bible. (2) Because prayer is God's appointed way for Christians to get things. (3) Because prayer is God's way for Christians to have fullness of joy, and in this manner he gives seven reasons why Christians should pray.
