A Theology of Suffering - Its Nature

73

In this second sermon of the series, we transition from origin of suffering to the nature of suffering. But even though we are moving on you should consider each one of these sermons to be built on the previous one(s) and in anticipation of those yet to come. The nature of suffering is determined, in part, by its origin and helps us to understand its purpose (which is point next Lord's Day). You should also remember that the nature of the suffering of each one of us, the Lord's people, varies from person to person. Nevertheless, there is much which can be gleaned from the experiences of one another and those saints which have gone before. Of course, the Scriptures are where we turn first and they form the foundation of our understanding of all of life's experiences from the soaring heights of joy where everything seems to be glorious to our perceptions to what can be to our perceptions very dark and seemingly endless trials and suffering. Understanding the biblical teaching regarding the nature of suffering will help whatever your trial may be. – Pastor Schlegel
