Reading Psalms to Myra

A young woman named Myra drove into the back parking lot of the notorious Lovejoy Surgicenter abortuary, in Portland (OR). When she got out of her car, Derek and Owen engaged her in conversations. According to the two Christian men, Myra came to the abortuary to have an ultrasound before she made a decision about whether or not to abort her baby. The men pleaded with her not to go inside, spoke Scripture truth to her, and offered assistance of various kinds if she would allow her baby to live.

The men said Myra wept and seemed contrite, but decided to go inside anyway to have the ultrasound. Knowing that those who engage in the murder of children are also liars, we feared that once in the grips of a "counselor," they manipulate her and convince her the best thing to do would be to murder her child. After all, if she wouldn't murder her child, then the butchers at Lovejoy would not make any money.

Owen came around to the front of the building and explained the situation to me. So, I decided to cry out to Myra from the front of the abortuary, pleading with her not to murder her, while reading the Psalms to her.

Myra later came out of the back of the abortuary, but this time not in tears. This time she was engaged. The preaching of the law and the gospel was an offense to her, so much so she determined to murder her child--no doubt to try to drown her conscience of the weight of guilt and shame the Word of God brought to her mind.
