Can Man Govern Himself

Can man effectively govern himself? Man certainly has tried. History records one attempt after another. A government forms. Laws are made and enforced. And then kingdoms crumble through corruption or coup, and new ones are formed. Is human government a product of the evolution of society as man moved from rural areas to create cities and then city-states? Whose idea was it for man to rule over man? The Bible reveals that God established human government as a means of governing mankind. In a covenant made with Noah, God gave man the right to protect human life by taking the life of a murderer. Good government promotes what is morally good and protects from evil. And while human governments fails to function as God intended, we still are to submit to those in authority over us, to serve in government as "God's ministers", and to support through paying, praying, and saying.
