Love The Lord Your God

104 ( 84 | 20 )

It is true that just as Israel was in danger of forgetting the God who redeemed them, so we can become so taken up with the things of this world that we forget that God alone, who is the source of all our blessings, should have our exclusive love and obedience.
How tragic when we fail to appropriate and enjoy the inheritance that is ours by grace through ignoring His commands and instead, give way to the spirit of the age. Just as in the day when Moses warned Israel of the idols of the land, so in our day we and our children are in great and urgent need of discerning the dangers around us and fearlessly hearing and obeying the word of God.
Without falling into heartless legalism or nagging moralism we are encouraged to look for natural opportunities to remind our children what it is to love God so that it may go well with them. Because we know in our hearts the same battle that they face we are better able to bring the word of His grace to their lives.
