Polygamy and Monogamy, 1

Like slavery and divorce, polygamy was not part of the creation structure, but is the fruit of sin. As with slavery and divorce, polygamy was tolerated in the Old Testament because of the hardness of the human heart, and the severity of its evils were limited by divine legislation. The seeds of the end of slavery, divorce and polygamy are sown in the New Testament.
