1Thessalonians2 PT10 -Through Love Serve One Another

12

This is the beginning of a study of Paul’s first epistle, the epistle to the Church at Thessalonica. This is the first epistle that Paul ever wrote. Thessalonica was a Roman Colony city, right in the heart of the Roman empire, with a rich, long and varied history. Here Paul had brought the Gospel and now is writing to them concerning their lives as believers who are already suffering for their faith in Jesus Christ. In this study we look at how Paul and those with him were gentle with the folks at Thessalonica, as a nursing Mom is with her newborn baby. God’s work transformed this killer of Christians into one as kind and tender as a nursing mom. Here we look at how this transforming love of God that has been poured out in our hearts is a love of action. It is way more than feeling or emotion as it works to help, aid, support, and do its best for those who are its object. This love is to be the trademark or identifying feature of the believer in Jesus Christ. When we are born again, this love becomes our new way of life, serving the brethren instead of serving ourselves. The flesh has become the arch enemy of the indwelling Holy Spirit and we are now called on to yield to Him in every aspect of our lives, by considering ourselves dead to sin in Jesus Christ but alive to God in the resurrected Jesus Christ.
