1 Peter 1 -Part 71 -Preparation for Suffering

As the tide turns against believers in this nation, it is good to remind ourselves of what is expected of us and what has been provided for us, so we may be prepared if and when we come under intensified persecution for Him. This is a study of the need to gird up the loins of our minds in preparation for suffering for our Lord. The lesson is that we are to be prepared in our minds for suffering for Him and our confidence is not to be in the things of this life but in the sure things of our hope in all His promises to us when He comes back for His body the church. Peter calls us to holiness in all our behavior. Here we look at the truth of redemption as revealed throughout the Word of God. Understanding the value of the price paid to redeem us, should move us to godly living. Here we continue to look at the wonderful plan of God, for our Savior, Who was foreknown before the foundation of the world. God’s plan is perfect all the way from eternity to eternity. This understanding of the plan of God should bring us comfort as we confront the hard things in our lives that burst upon us, knowing they have been ordained by the sovereign hand of our Lord for our own good! This is how He uses all these things to train us and to make us like His own beloved Son. Here we look at the centrality of the Lord Jesus Christ. There is no true faith in God without faith in God the Son, Who is in human form the exact image of the Father. Therefore to love Him is to love the Father and to hate Him is to hate the Father.
