What is Christian Science? 06 Christian Science Terms and Definitions Episode 154

What do Christian Scientists mean when they talk about the terms we find in the Bible? How does Christian Science define Christian terms like The Holy Spirit, sin, salvation, wrath, etc.? Today were going to look at more terms and definitions that both Christianity and Christian Science use, and how the definitions differ.
• Holy Spirit – Not one of the three persons of the Trinity. Christian Science teaches that the Holy Spirit is not God. It is Divine Science. The Spirit of God that can only be discerned through a person's spiritual awareness. It is the law of God in action. It is also portrayed as a Christian Science mindset.
• The Stripes of Jesus – (Sit down and take a deep breath before reading further). Jesus' stripes had nothing to do with the punishment Jesus took on our behalf. Forget Isaiah 53. It is simply his rejection of error, not the beating he received in the flesh (S&H 20:15). This completely undermines the gospel.
• Knowledge - 'Evidence obtained from the five corporeal (bodily) senses; mortality; beliefs and opinions. The opposite of spiritual Truth and understanding.' (S&H 590). We cannot trust these senses as they come from the illusion of matter. We must ask the question, if we cannot trust these senses, how can we trust the words of Mary Baker Eddy or the teachings of Christian Science, when we hear or read them? This definition of knowledge is self-refuting.
• Material Reality – Christian Science teaches that it does not exist. It is illusion. “There is no spoon”. Everything is spirit. Evil, pain, suffering, sin and death are all illusions.
• Mortal Mind – The mortal mind does not exist.
