Hospitality Heaven's Style
Series Philemon Series
Paul prayed for Philemon in v. 6, “that the fellowship of your faith may become effective through the knowledge of every good thing which is in you for Christ's sake.” Based on that fellowship we have together in Christ, that effective “sharing of faith,” he ends by saying, “meanwhile, also prepare a guestroom for me...” These last few verses reveal the hospitality of heaven, and this sermon examines the Why of Hospitality (our union with Christ who prepares a room for us in His Father's house, and we are in union with all other Christians), the Way of Hospitality (giving ourselves over in love, using our gifts), and the Who of Hospitality (there is no “gift of hospitality,” so all Christians are to practice this). Hospitality is an action of the citizens of heaven who are diligently devoting themselves to refreshing the saints, to mutual love and encouragement.
