The legalistic Judaizers claimed to be Christians, but twisted the gospel to say that salvation was by works in adhering to Mosaic Law and circumcision. Such stalwarts as Peter and Barnabas were intimidated and led astray; but Paul stood strong and confronted the heresy. The Jerusalem Council settled the matter. Salvation is by grace through faith in Christ alone.
