My Beloved Son: The Baptism of Jesus

In the continuing series on the Gospel of Luke this sermon looks at the Baptism of Jesus. Pastor Stoos addresses three important questions: 1) Why did Jesus need to be baptized?; 2) What happened when Jesus was baptized?; and 3) Why are we commanded to baptize today? We see the baptism of Jesus as a new exodus for God's people, His anointing as our great High Priest, and the clearest picture in the Scriptures of the Trinity in all its fullness. Pastor Stoos shows the majesty of God the Father testifying about His Beloved Son and why it is important that we keep that focus in our baptism services today. Finally he shows that we must look to God's faithfulness and not our faithfulness to know the assurance of our salvation.
