Sri Lanka Drought Emergency - Impact on Christians in LEFC churches

224 ( 62 | 162 )

A major drought emergency is happening in the north and east of Sri Lanka right now. There has been little rain in the past 18 months and they are suffering their worst drought in 40 years. The Lanka Evangelical Fellowship of Churches (LEFC) are mainly located in this region and 625 families from 40 churches desperately need food and water. Without help, we fear many people will die.
They are predominantly Tamil although there are Telugu and Sinhalese congregations. In 1999 there was one church and two small church plants; today there are some 50 churches. They are reformed and rejoice in the doctrines of grace.
The man the Lord has used, from the very first converts to the many churches today, is Pastor Jeyakanth. God has done a truly remarkable work through him. If we had witnessed these things in the West, it would be headline news and we would be saying, 'revival has come’.
We are doing all we can to support our sister churches during this crisis but the needs are overwhelming.
So we are seeking help from others as we do not have resources to provide sufficient support. For more details visit care-srilanka.org
