Jacob: Raised a Memorial to God

The stone raised by Jacob was not an idol or a statute to be worshiped. It was a memorial to the power, grace and goodness of God. He placed oil upon it to show its high value for oil was expensive. Furthermore, oil represents the HS who was present in that “dreadful place”.
