God's Purpose in Creation: What's This World Coming To?

'What's this world coming to!?'

This question is often raised in moments of shock and horror, especially when we observe some of the terrible atrocities performed by humanity and we are confronted with the depths of our depravity. One only has to listen to, or watch, the news to have reason to ask such a question. However, it is as much a statement of disbelief as it is a question? disbelief that we, humanity, could be capable of such behaviour, together with the awareness that we were created for something greater, but with little hope of ever reaching it.

The fact of the matter is, we won't find the answer to the question, 'What's this world coming to?' in the news, in the latest science magazines or social media, or by discussing the problems of the world over coffee with friends. Instead, we must look to God, the Creator of this world, and his Word, and read that the world is coming to something far greater and more tremendous than we could ever imagine.

'What's this world coming to?' It's coming to exactly what the Creator intended it to come to? glory! To be filled with the knowledge and glory of God! To a glorious marriage between the Lamb and his radiant bride, the church! It's coming to renewal, redemption and righteousness! All this, I pray, we will see as we begin our series on 'The Mission of God' with the topic - God's Purpose in Creation: What's This World Coming To?
