Outward Forms for Inward Faith

Israel had been brought into the Promised Land in dramatic fashion. In an act of consecration before the struggle that awaited them, God now leads them in two rites, circumcision and Passover. What do these two rites reveal about God's expectation for true faith? How do these ancient rites of Israel anticipate the Coming One? Is it possible for those in the church to participate in the rites and rituals of the church and possess no more faith than those who died in the wilderness under the judgment of God?
