Hebrews 3:1-12

Vs1: “wherefore” takes us back to what has just been said. We learned that Christ is superior to everything in the whole universe, angels, the old prophets including Moses and Abraham. “Holy Brethren” is fellow believers. A very small portion of the bible is written to nonbelievers, telling them how to become believers and accept Christ as their savior. The rest of the bible tells believers how to reach spiritual maturity. When you accepted Jesus Christ, you became sanctified, set aside for God's use.
Vs2: “house” is used through vs2-6. The word “house” in the Greek here does not mean the physical house that you live in. It means a group of people, a unique unit of people in this context. Moses was faithful to the group of people God gave him.
Vs3: Christ was also faithful to His group of people. Christ is deemed higher than Moses because Christ was more faithful because he built on that group of people. Vs4: the writer here reminds us that whatever is assimilated, or gathered, or built, it all comes from God ultimately.
Vs5: Moses was faithful, not perfect. He struck a rock when he was supposed to speak to it, throwing a little temper tantrum. This angered God, and we all know that story. Moses was human with human failings and weaknesses, and this cost him some rewards.
Vs6: Christ was perfect, and He did not sin, so He got all His rewards. The writer is telling the Hebrews that they are part of Christ's group of people. The writer is getting...
