Abraham Saw Jesus' Sacrifice

God delights in saving the people He delights in!

But should the saints feel as if they are a burden on the Lord? After all, we are dependent upon God for everything, and our cries never cease, and His mercy never comes to an end.

One way of answering the question is to study those who have rejoiced in God's salvation in the Scripture.

The Philippian Jailer is one such example. He was a hard man, who lived under the threat of execution if he lost any prisoner. He was unlikely to respect or show mercy to his prisoners.

When God opened the jailhouse doors and loosed all the prisoners with an earthquake, the jailer almost killed himself, but Paul intervened to assure him that no prisoner had left.

In that instant, the jailer saw his life pass before him, and understanding the miracle of prisoners not taking advantage of unexpected freedom, no doubt the Holy Ghost used this moment to stir up in him a fear for his soul and eternal judgment.

He cried out, what must I do to be saved!

The answer was the declaration "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved!"

Praise God, the jailer believed the gospel, and we are told that he rejoiced because He trusted in God unto salvation.

The Ethiopian Eunuch was riding across the desert reading Isaiah 53, and was troubled by the question, who is this man who was made a substitute for sinners, and was punished in their place, and was put to death for their sin?

Phillip the Evangelist, brought by the Spirit, preached unto him Jesus! He explained Christ's sacrifice on the Cross, and how He had been raised from the dead in glory.

The Eunuch believed, was baptized, and went on his way rejoicing!
