Piercing the Darkness

John denies three claims that were being made.

1. If We say. . .we lie (v. 6)
2. If We say. . .we deceive ourselves (v. 8)
3. If We say. . .we make Him out to be a liar (v. 10)

John is fond of emphasizing his propositions by a restatement of them in a negative form.
