Nevertheless

This sermon begins a series--Gleanings from Timothy. 'Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his, And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.' The design of Paul's letters to Timothy was to encourage him to persevere. Timothy was timid, and he needed to learn to not be intimidated when persecution came, when others forsook Christ, when trials assaulted him, when there were troubles in the church. Timothy needed to persevere in watchfulness and prayer.
