Temptation in the Trial

In this lesson we look at the transition from trials to temptations which takes place in verse 13. James provides for his readers reasons why it is wrong to say that God is tempting the believer to evil. The first reason is based on the character of God and secondly on the action of God being in line with his character.

We explore the temptation in the Garden of Eden to look at what James has to say about the proper placement of blame for temptation to sin. The temptation to sin comes in the midst of a trial and appeals to the weakness of fleshly human desires which would seek to delight in something other than God and his Word.

We also discussed personal spiritual disciplines as the activities that the Holy Spirit leads us to do in faith to build a Biblical Worldview which protects us during a time of testing.

This text was born out of a misconception about God's character. James addresses this to clear up the misconception because right thinking about God is of the utmost importance to the theology held by the individual.
