Building with Gold

Christianity must affect conduct, or to put it another way: faith without works is dead. The apostle Paul says that “each one” must build in the church, and he will either use gold, silver, and precious stones or wood, hay, and stubble. A Christianity that reaches only the head is no Christianity at all. It must also affect the labor of our hands. In this passage Paul transforms the believer’s understanding of God’s building from the material construct to an eternal one – one in which each of us even now has the privilege to labor.
