The Effects of the Fall

35

In the Garden of Eden, Adam enjoyed sweet fellowship with God. He lived in innocence. He enjoyed keeping the Garden. He enjoyed the gift of his wife. This relationship is evidenced by Genesis 3:8. When God approached Adam, something was different. Instead of joyfully seeking the presence of God, Adam was hiding. The relationship had changed. What was different? Adam had sinned. Genesis 3:1-8

What was the temptation for Eve? She saw a tree that was desirable, a tree to make one wise. She desired open eyes. She would know good and evil.

Their eyes were opened. Their eyes were open to evil. They were opened to the displeasure of God. They were opened to a change in relationship with God. They were opened to see the need to cover up sin.

The Effects of opened eyes never ceased. We can still comprehend evil. We still understand the displeasure of God. We still experience the change in relationship with God. Man still attempts to cover-up sin.

God did not leave man without a remedy. God pronounced judgement upon the serpent. He bruises the head of the serpent. God gives life to overcome the effects of the fall.
