Rejoice O Young Man: Awesome Youth Message from the 19th Century

1,371

Asahel Nettleton (1783-1844) is America's forgotten evangelist. Born in Connecticut, Nettleton's preaching was used by God in the conversion of over 30,000 souls during what is known as America's 'Second Great Awakening.'

Nettleton was vehemently opposed to the 'new measures' and the 'anxious bench' introduced into evangelism by Charles Grandison Finney. Finney's new measures and use of the 'anxious bench' were the predecessors to today's 'altar call.'

In this sermon read by Pastor Jon Cardwell, Nettleton delivers a message to youth, presenting them with the truth that the reality of their lives falls into either one of two categories: live for gratification now or live now unto God as very eternal treasure.

Nettleton delievered an excellent message to youth concerning the judgment to come.
