How should we handle rebuke? Paul did not enjoy offering correction and neither should we. We should offer correction out of love. When God calls us to repentance it is because He loves us. Repentance (metanoia) is not a feeling or an emotion. Repent means a change in mind that results in a change in direction. God causes sin to hurt so that we will learn not to do it.
