Jonah: Fainting but not Forgetting
'When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD' (Jonah 2:7)
Jonah's soul was sinking to the point of despair. He was in a place that he himself described as hell on earth.
When he viewed his situation merely with the eyes of the flesh, it seemed hopeless.
Yet, in the midst of these deep and difficult times, by the grace of God, he was enabled to look to the Lord.
The entire passage in Jonah 2:1-7 provides us with much needed instruction as to how a fainting saint is revived.
God's Saints are revived by remembering the Lord. Thinking about God Himself and His Gracious Works of Redemption on their behalf.
It is of particular importance during these times to remember that God is a God Who Remembers. He remembers His Covenant, He Remembers His People, He Remembers His Promises.
