Do Not Fear Them

When we are threatened the natural reaction is to protect ourselves. That may involve retreating from the situation. That can be a temptation for the people of God when they are challenged about their faith. Jesus knew that his disciples would face that challenge so he told them to focus on God rather than man. There are two sides to that. At worst, man can only kill our body, but God can cast body and soul into hell. The other side is the ongoing care 'your Father' shows for each on of his people - 'the hairs of your head are numbered'. Remember how God protected his people in past generations. Think about the Coming of our Lord Jesus - what will we wish we had done when that day finally arrives? Have faith in God, and keep your eye on the goal. Let those two things influence you - and nothing else.
