What we shall be

231

This passage gives us a wonderful contrast from what we are to what we shall be. In the passage we have a summation of what we are within these bodies and the sum is not very encouraging. It is, however, completely accurate. It is an assessment of our bodies that you will not find very flattering.

Here it is… Our bodies are bodies of…
Corruption…
Dishonor…
Weakness…
And a natural body…(Picking the four descriptions most of us would opt for the fourth but it is not as positive a statement as you might think.)

Whenever you die the eulogy pronounced over your bodies could be these words here lies Joel’s body. It served him well in this life though it also served to compromise his spirit for, because of sin, it was like all of our bodies a corrupting, dishonoring, weak, natural body.

But this is not going to be the last word on our bodies. The promise for the follower of Jesus Christ is that their bodies will one day be raised incorruptible, to glory, to power and to spiritual life and dignity.
