Faith & Food #14; Eating of the Tree of Life

94

Introduction

'…sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men…' Romans 5:12

'I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall crush your head, and you shall bruise His heel.' Genesis 3:15

I. What is the Tree of Life All About?

The Tree of Life is a sign and seal of the blessing that was promised to Adam in the Covenant of Works.

II. What Happened to it Between Genesis and Revelation? (Gen. 40:19; Deut. 21:23; Jos. 8:29; 10:26; Est. 7:10; Gal. 3:13; etc.)

God graciously cut man off from it.

Tree is used in the NT to describe the cross.

But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a tree.” Acts 5:29-30

“We are all witnesses of all that He did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put Him to death by hanging Him on a tree.” Acts 10:39

And when they had carried out all that was written of Him, they took Him down from the tree and laid Him in a tomb. Acts 13:29

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. 1 Peter 2:24

Conclusion

• Revelation 2:7 w/ Romans 8:37 we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
• Revelation 22:14 w/ Revelation 7:14 They have washed their robes…in the blood of the Lamb.
